Hello and welcome to my very first blog woooo!
I decided to start up this blog following the amount of interest I was receiving regarding my eat clean meals and recipes – I am guilty of posting a lot of these on my Instagram and Facebook! It seemed more logical to point people in the direction of one page where they could find out about clean eating and high protein meals and recipes (all naturally gluten free) which can help to achieve your health and fitness goals.
A little about me...
My name is Michaela and I'm 23 years old. In 2008, aged, 18, I found out that I had coeliac disease. For those you who don't know much about it...Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disorder where the lining of the small intestine is damaged by foods containing the protein 'gluten', such as wheat, rye, barley and sometime oats. The damaged bowel is not able to absorb food properly leading to a condition called malabsorption. Apart from causing other side effects (too much info!) coeliac disease may also cause anaemia because of problems absorbing iron and folic acid and it may cause osteoporosis.
The good news is that I've lived a gluten-free lifestyle for well over 5 years now and feel fit and healthy! As daunting as it seems for those newly diagnosed, it's actually a very healthy diet and many people choose to follow a gluten free diet simply because it makes them feel much better and it's full of tasty and nutricious fresh food!
This is where my passion for food and fitness was born. I realised how important it was for me to eat the right foods and to exercise regularly and it became shocklingly apparent how much rubbish really does go into some of the manufactured junk on the supermarket shelves! For me there's nothing better than feeling fit and healthy inside and out - and this certainly hasn't stopped me from eating pretty much constantly throughout the day - I LOVE FOOD!!!
My mission is to eat as clean as possible, be as healthy as possible and be as fit as possible and I hope this blog can help those of you who have similar interests!
Enjoy, M :-) x
